President Trump responded to the father calling for an
investigation of his Navy SEAL son's death in a Yemen military raid, with the
president expressing sympathy for the service member's family but defending the
mission as one "that started before I got here."
"This was something that they were looking at for a
long time doing," Trump said in an interview on "Fox &
Friends" that aired this morning. "And according to Gen. [James]
Mattis it was a very successful mission. They got tremendous amounts of
information."
"This was a mission that started before I got here," the president said.
No empathy. Just, "It's not my fault."
A real president takes responsibility for military actions that go bad. History shows that when JFK took full responsibility for the failed Bay of Pigs tragedy. It had been planned before JFK became president, and the generals urged JFK to go forward with it. JFK did NOT, as Drumpf did, blame anyone. That's because JFK was a real president -- unlike the jackass who's now in office.
ReplyDeleteYes, I thought of that with the Bay of Pigs. "It was Ike's fault"-Trump. I feel bad for the wife of that SEAL that died. I wonder if she knew what she was getting herself into last night. I'm trying to break myself of the habit of feeling sympathy for people who stupidly get themselves abused by Trump, tho.
