"Sunny Ways, My Friends, Sunny Ways"

I don't have any idea if Justin Trudeau will be successful as prime minister of Canada. He's led an interesting life up until now, though. I certainly wish him bon chance in his efforts there and bon appetit in dining with President Obama.

Trudeau tends to surprise his opponents. His carefree waltz into the boxing ring came after three months of quiet but intensive training. Similarly, he plotted his recent elevation to the prime ministership of Canada years in advance, vaulting the Liberal Party from a dismal third place to a majority government.

Go. Enjoy. Anyone who can provide that post title deserves a "look on the bright side" post label.

Why can't we have nice things?

  1. "Why can't we have nice things?"

Robert Heinlein said the free things in life are worth exactly what you pay for them. He was barking mad but a lot can be read out of that comment.

  2. I've often said that myself and am probably a little off, too. Warren Buffett says if you act eccentric while you're young they won't commit you when you get older because it's expected. Of course, he's a billionaire. I've always meant to read Heinlein. I'll put him on my reading list.

  3. Early Heinlein is golden age of sci-fi stuff, later Heinlein is quite strange.
All the ones I’ve read over the years(I’ve read a lot) sound like the same voice is lecturing the reader, but his politics defy categorisation. Some of what he appears to be proposing is around the bend. “Did you just write that?” sort of thing.
Like a female protagonist who falls in love with her rapist… it’s just wrong.
