Memorial Day 2009

Today is the day in the United States when most of us honor those who have fought in war, for the majority of us who haven’t. These include men such as Colin Powell, Andrew Bacevich and Chuck Hagel. And, so as not to be sexist, it includes women such as Janice Karpinski.

Some however, such as Rush Limbaugh and Donald Douglas, will spend the day devising ways to ensure that these soldiers will no longer be part of the GOP. Let’s not discourage them. No one need sign an oath supporting torture and unnecessary wars in order to be a member of the Democratic party. Let’s encourage the idea of the Republican party being made small enough to be drowned in a bathtub. Maybe Grover Norquist will lend a hand.
